Making homemade cleaning solution was one of my summer projects.
With the help of the Internet, I was able to find some great recipes.
Here are the ingredients needed for the project.
The liquid dish soap was the easiest and fast one to make.
I did a test batch by using
1 cup of liquid Castile soap
1/4 cup of warm water and
1 drop of Bergamot essential oil
I poured the ingredients into an empty dish soap bottle and shook the mixture up. The result was the store version of the liquid dish soap. Very concentrated and the fragrant was delicious (hemp almond scent).
So I poured 1/4 cup of the just made liquid soap into another empty bottle and diluted it further with 3 cups of water and it worked just fine. I washed some greasy pots with the liquid soap and boy was I impressed. I don't think I will be buying any liquid dish soap from the store anymore.
The next one was the dish washer detergent. It was very easy and quick as well.
I used these measurement for the test batch:
1 cup of 20 Mule Team Borax
1 cup of Baking Soda
1 tbsp. of Lemi Shine
I shook all of the ingredients in a container with a lid and then poured it into this cute Ball glass jar (remember the ten boxes of glass jars I got from the freecycle.com?).
Only two tablespoons of the detergent per load is needed - one in the open cup and one in the closed locking cup.
The white vinegar acts as a rinse agent. Just pour some in the rinse receptacle of the dish washer before starting the machine.
The last one I made was the laundry powder detergent. I grounded up the harden soap with three different blades to ensure its finest. I then poured the rest of the ingredients in and gave them a few more pulses to mix them together).
Love the uniform look of the powder and it smells great! I will use it tomorrow and report back how I like it.
